To say The Green Hornet had a troubled production history would be an understatement. Originally mooted in 1992 and based on a radio serial created by George W. Trendle (creator of the Lone Ranger), the film has passed through several stars (including, but not restricted to, George Clooney, Jason Scott Lee, Stephen Chow and Jet Li) and numerous directors including Kevin Smith and the aforementioned Stephen Chow. It is in fact Michel Gondry’s second turn in the directors chair after initially being hired to shoot the film as his feature film debut in 1997. Ultimately writing duties ended up at the doorstep of Seth Rogen and frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg with Gondry returning, this time with a whole host of critically acclaimed films already under his belt. Was The Green Hornet worth the 19 year wait?
